7.5 Summary

This chapter has examined all the nonmonitoring standard services defined by the JMX specification. The timer service allows us to generate scheduled notifications so that our management applications can handle recurring tasks. Using the MLet service simplifies the deployment of MBeans to MBeanServers spread across our networks. And the relation service helps management applications organize large constellations of MBeans. JMX connectors allow remote access to the MBeanServer and the resources it aggregates. Although these are certainly valuable services that you would expect any management infrastructure to provide, they are by no means the last word in JMX services. The various JMX implementations all come with their own custom services梖or example, distributed services or scripting services梐nd of course you are encouraged to build your own services to meet your particular management requirements.
