7.6 Next Steps
Applications built in this manner are static, standalone desktop
applications. When the user installs the application, either by
copying it from a CD-ROM or downloading a compressed archive, the
application no longer has contact with the publisher (unless it is
added by custom application development).
For small utilities or very large monolithic applications, this
technique works well. For many classes of software, however, you
might want to deploy your applications via the Web, as discussed in
the next chapter.
