Conventions

The following formatting conventions are used throughout the book:

Bold Boldface is used to indicate method names at the start of their descriptions and for points of emphasis in the text.

Italics New terms are italicized where they are defined. Italics are also used for emphasis and to indicate package names, fields, and equivalent code patterns in the text.

Courier Courier is used exclusively for embedded code examples.

Courier Bold In code examples, boldface is used to identify important lines that are described in the text.
