10.5 Summary

In this chapter, we described Servlet, JSP, and Cocoon as technologies for XML application servers. We hope you understand the basic techniques for handling XML documents on the server side and how you can implement Web applications that process XML documents.

The technologies we described in this chapter are placed at the frontend of a Web application. In Chapter 11, we describe the relationship between XML and databases as the backend of a Web application.
